(EN) I shake myself awake, adjusting to guilt. I choose a blood-colored pencil and write: it is possible to freeze with fire, just as it is possible to build upon what one is burning—perhaps that is why I survive.
“Once the gardens are gone” is an exercise in reflecting on the perceived fragility of a generation labeled as “generación de cristal.” In this dialogue between rage and vulnerability, the work reclaims pain as a force for reconstruction, imagining flowers that do not wither and absences that become permanent shelters.
(ES) Me sacudo y despierto, me aclimato a la culpa. Elijo un lápiz color sangre y escribo: es posible congelarse con fuego y también construir sobre aquello que uno está incendiando — quizás sea por eso que sobrevivo.
“Cuando ya no existan los jardines” es un ejercicio que reflexiona sobre la fragilidad percibida en las luchas de una generación marcada por la etiqueta de “cristal.” En este diálogo entre rabia y vulnerabilidad, la obra reivindica el dolor como motor de reconstrucción, imaginando flores que no marchitan y ausencias que devienen refugios permanentes.

As part of the celebration of Montevideo’s 300th anniversary, “Young Contemporary Art” is presented as a platform for new generations of artists to access an institutional space that promotes diversity, cultural development, and civic participation. The call seeks to capture the perspectives of young artists who, through the reflection of their visions and concerns, contribute to the construction of a collective, reflective, and inclusive identity.
